Ivan is one of the over 135,000 Puerto Ricans that relocated to the U.S. mainland after the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria in 2017. Now living in Miami, Ivan has become a thriving businessman, opening La Social, a restaurant and bakery in the historic MiMo district in South Florida. But Ivan’s contribution to the local community goes beyond serving coffee and picture perfect pastries; La Social has become a meeting point for the Latinx community.
